A SWANSEA Valley man, who admitted taking a car without consent and causing an accident, has been given a 16-week suspended sentence.
Jarren Jamie Francis, of 29 Dantwyn Road in Pontardawe, took a Citroen C8 from Penllegear on September 9 and then caused an accident that damaged a second car.
The 27-year-old also admitted to driving through Hendy with no insurance and while he was disqualified from driving.
Suspending the sentence for 18 months, Llanelli magistrates stated that Francis’ offence was made all the more serious because there were children and his partner in the car at the time of the accident.
Francis must also carry out 120 hours of community service and attend 10 activity sessions.
He was also banned from driving for 18 months.
