Dyfed-Powys Police has thrown its support behind the White Ribbon campaign aiming to bring an end to domestic violence.

White Ribbon Day will take place on Tuesday, November 25.

The day is the annual pinnacle of the campaign to not only wear a white ribbon as visible pledges never to commit, condone or remain silent about domestic violence but also to highlight the issue of domestic abuse and reassure victims to come forward to seek help and support.

This year Dyfed Powys Police will be supporting the various candle lit walks that are being held in the force area. Chief Superintendent Pam Kelly will be attending the event in Carmarthen which is being held on the November 24.

She said: “Everyone has the right to live free from fear, intimidation and abuse, especially within their own home. I am pleased to be supporting this event where men and women walk together to support the end of domestic violence”

Detective Inspector Neil Jenkins said: “Domestic abuse covers a wide spectrum and can include physical, sexual, emotional or financial abuse, threats and damage. Our main concern is to protect victims and any children to make sure they are not at continuing risk.”

If anyone feels they are the victim of abuse or if you are worried about a friend of family member please call police on 101 or the Wales Domestic Abuse helpline on 0808 80 10 8000.
