IT’S beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at The Guardian thanks to some outstanding generosity of our kind-hearted readers.

The office is yet again a drop-off point for the annual Toybox Appeal- which provides presents for thousands of children from disadvantaged families across the county and you haven’t been holding back with your offerings.

The toy box has already been emptied once since arriving two weeks ago and more and more presents are flooding in.

From cars and crafts, dolls to games and a rather cute fluffy dog called Dougie, we’ve seen a steady stream of caring visitors dropping off gifts.

Founded in 2011 by Carmarthenshire County Council, the scheme provides Christmas gifts for families who are unable to afford to buy food, gifts, or toys for their children over the festive season. Last year, the Christmas toy box appeal collected and distributed more than 5,000 gifts.

Unwrapped gifts are needed for children of all ages from toddlers all the way up to teenagers.

Editor Steve Adams says the amount of gifts already donated shows how caring our readers are.

“We’ve been blown-away by the generosity of people yet again,” he explains

“We’re receiving donations daily and it’s exciting to think how the toys will become a cherished gift for an under-privileged child this Christmas.

“It shows how caring our community really is and everyone at the Guardian wants to say a huge thank you to those who are supporting the appeal.”

The Toy Box Appeal will run until December 12 and it’s simple to get involved. Unwrapped toys can be handed in via our front office, which is open Monday-Friday.

A second collection point is available at Ammanford Town Hall.
