Llandybie tennis aces were defeated at the weekend after a tricky away fixture at Aberystwyth.

On Sunday, May 29, club legend Emyr Nicholas, who has more than 300 club appearances to his name, did the club and boys proud.

The first pair was club captain Mathew Davies, alongside newly signed Aled Morgan.

After an absence of three years, Mathew was raring to go and produced a good serving game with no double faults all day, which is rare for the feisty player.

Aled Morgan, who is playing his first competitive season, put in an absolute near perfect performance, as the scores of losing 6-4 and 6-2 and then 6-1 and 6-2 did not reflect the pair.

The second pairing of Nicholas with newbie Mathew Bowden performed well too.

Emyr worked well with his younger and fitter partner, Mathew very wisely.

Although they lost both rubbers 6-1, 6-1 and then a very close second rubber 6-3, 6-2, a lot can be taken away from today, as they were the only pair to take a game off Casper - the Aberystwyth big hitter who had a serve clocked at 176mph!

Everyone can take credit from the team performance today and the future is looking promising for the village team.
