The Chapel at Capel Hendre will be holding no services throughout August, with normal in-person services returning in September.

The chapel’s services are constantly available for those who use the web, and people will be able to worship on Zoom

The chapel will reopen its doors for services on the first Sunday of next month (Sunday, September 4).

A spokesperson said: “There was a variation in the order in July. There was no official meeting. Instead, there was lunch at Pen y Brenin.

"A significant number of members came together to enjoy an afternoon of conversation and enjoy a prepared meal.

“At the meeting in August there was a very interesting and informative lecture by Mr Raymond Thomas, originally from Penygroes but settled in Llanedi for years now.

“He showed a film about the beginning of steel works in Ukraine established by Wales. It showed the life of those who lived there, compared to those, the migrants, who had come there to work.

“Naturally enough, there was a discussion after the film, about the situation in Ukraine, today. It has to be said that this lecture has shown us the ability that man has to do good but also, on the contrary, evil.

“As usual, there was light refreshments to finish the afternoon."

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 6 at 2pm in the vestry, where Paul Davies will talk about bees, wine and honey.
