A WOMAN has been hit with a suspended sentence after assaulting a police officer and damaging a police vehicle.

Emma Simmons, 46, of High Street in Tumble, appeared at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on December 5.

It was alleged that Simmons attacked a police officer on November 1 in Tumble. She was also accused of damaging a police vehicle on that date.

The court heard that she was “heavily intoxicated” at the time.

Simmons pleaded guilty to common assault of an emergency worker and criminal damage.

The defendant was sentenced to 15 weeks, suspended for 18 months. As part of this, she must complete 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days and a 12-month alcohol treatment programme with the Dyfed Drug and Alcohol Service (DDAS).

Simmons must pay £100 in compensation to the officer and £132 to Dyfed-Powys Police for the damage caused, and also costs of £85.
