THESE drivers have had their cases heard in court recently.

The defendants faced charges including dangerous driving, drink and drug driving, and driving without a licence or insurance.

The cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

EDWARD FITZPATRICK, 22, of Maes Y Ffynnon in Llannon, Carmarthenshire, has been banned from the roads for 18 months after admitting dangerous driving.

Fitzpatrick was alleged to have been driving a Toyota Yaris dangerously in the Sylen area on March 19, 2023.

He pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to a one-year community order at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on December 21. As part of this, he must complete 160 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Fitzpatrick was also fined £85 and must pay a £114 surcharge, and must complete an extended retest before he is allowed back behind the wheel.

LEWIS MCLOUGHLIN, 28, of Wellfield Avenue in Porthcawl, was caught drug driving in Cross Hands.

McLoughlin was alleged to have been driving a Ford Transit van on Heol Stanllyd on July 19. When stopped and tested, he recorded having 16 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) per litre (µg/L) of blood.

The legal limit – to exclude accidental exposure – is 2µg/L.

McLoughlin pleaded guilty to drug driving, and was disqualified from driving for a year at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on December 22.

He was fined £120, and must now pay £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge.

TYLER JONES, 23, of Heol Bryngwili in Cross Hands, admitted riding a motorbike while drunk in Carmarthenshire.

Jones was alleged to have ridden a Lexmoto LXR 125 on Lamas Street in Carmarthen on December 9.

When breathalysed, he recorded having 67 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Jones pleaded guilty to drink driving at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 2.

He was fined £200, and must pay £85 in costs. Jones was also disqualified from driving for 18 months.

CHARLOTTE KELMAN, 26, of Heol Y Gelynen in Upper Brynamman, has admitted drink driving while getting behind the wheel without a licence and while uninsured.

Kelman was alleged to have been driving a Nissan Qashqai on Pontardulais Road in Tycroes on December 10.

When breathalysed, she recorded having 42 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

She was also reported to have been driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and without insurance.

Kelman pleaded guilty to all charges at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 2.

She was fined a total of £200, and must pay £85 in costs and a £80 surcharge. The defendant was also banned from driving for a year.
