A MAN has pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a crash on the A40 which closed the road for more than six hours.

David Davies, 59, of Capel Iwan in Carmarthenshire, is accused of causing a woman serious injury after the crash on July 21, 2022, by driving a Toyota Hilux dangerously.

Fire, police, ambulance and air ambulance crews attended the scene on the A40 Broad Oak crossroads between Llandeilo and Dryslwyn shortly before 6pm on July 21, 2022. The Welsh Air Ambulance also attended, and a woman was taken by road ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales.

The road from the Dryslwyn crossroads to the Broad Oak crossroads remained closed throughout the evening and was re-opened at 12.30am the following day.

Davies pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 9.

He was granted bail, and the case was sent to Swansea Crown Court for sentence on January 30.
