THESE defendants have had their cases heard in court recently.

The four defendants face charges including vehicle interference, driving whilst disqualified, driving without a licence or insurance, and assaulting a police officer.

Their cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

LEE NICKLIN, 35, of High Street in Ammanford, has denied a charge of vehicle interference.

It is alleged that Nicklin interfered with a Kia Rio in Llanelli on November 11 with the intent of stealing the car, parts of the car, or items inside the car.

He pleaded not guilty, and at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 9, a trial date was set.

Nicklin was granted bail, and will return to court on February 19.

ELIZABETH JONES, 24, of Nant Y Dderwen in Drefach, is accused of driving without a licence or insurance.

Jones is alleged to have driven a Volkswagen Golf in the Llanelli area on December 20. She is accused of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and not having a valid insurance policy.

She pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 9 to driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, but no plea was entered on the insurance charge.

The case was adjourned until January 17 for checks to be made on the defendant’s insurance policy.

JAMES WRIGHT, 24, of Rhyd-Y-Fro in Llangadog, has been accused of driving whilst disqualified and not stopping for the police.

Wright is alleged to have been driving a Mercedes A Class in Llangadog and Ffairfach on December 20.

He is accused of not having a licence or insurance, and of failing to stop when signalled to by police in Ffairfach.

Wright pleaded not guilty to each charge at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on December 21.

He was remanded in to custody, and will next appear in court on January 26.

AARON RICHARDS, 31, of Coldstream Street in Llanelli, is accused of assaulting a police officer in Ammanford.

Richards has been charged with assault by beating of an emergency worker relating to an alleged incident with a police officer in Ammanford on July 20.

He was also accused of criminal damage of a custody cell at Llanelli Police Station on that date.

Richards was also accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour against two police officers with the intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence, as well as obstructing a police officer in the execution of their duty. These related to alleged offences in Llanelli on June 20.

He pleaded guilty to the criminal damage offence at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 2, but not guilty to the remaining charges.

Richards was granted bail, and will return to court on February 12.
