A special performance will take place in Llandeilo next month.

The Cantorion Llandeilo Singers, led by musical director Colin New, will welcome spectators to an evening of Mozart at St Teilo’s Church.

The show will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

The choir previously staged a successful concert at the same venue when they performed Handel Messiah on November 19, 2022.

This time they have chosen Mozart's Requiem in D minor, the composer’s final composition, as their highlight.

The evening will journey from Mozart's first minuet for piano which he wrote at the tender age of five, through to this last work – the Requiem.

Additionally, there will be solo arias from Mozart's operas, performed by professional soloists who will be participating in the Requiem.

Soprano Helen Massey and tenor Robyn Lyn Evans, both past performers with the singers, will return.

They'll be joined by newcomers, mezzo-soprano Esme Bronwen-Smith, and baritone Theo Perry.

Ms Bronwen-Smith made a name for herself by winning the 2022 Kathleen Ferrier Awards.

She describes her heritage as akin to a Corgi: "Aesthetically English but undoubtedly Welsh".

Mr Perry, a Gold Medal graduate from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, recently finished his Masters at RCM International Opera Studio.

Tickets are priced at £15, with under 18s admitted free.

They can be purchased from Peppercorn on 5 King Street, Llandeilo, by calling 07851 786569, or at the door on the night of the event.

A licensed wine bar will be available for attendees.

The concert starts at 7pm on April 27, 2024, at St Teilo’s Church.
