TWO men, one from Betws and the other from Maesybont near Cefneithin, have been charged with firearms offences.

Ashley Wright faced two charges at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court, while Timothy Wright was charged with one offence.

Ashley Wright, 64, of Treforis in the Betws area of Ammanford, was charged with possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence as well as possession of a firearm without a certificate.

It was alleged that Wright had a shotgun with him in Maesybont, near Cefneithin on March 24, 2022, with the intent to cause a man to fear that unlawful violence would be used against him. He was also accused of not having a licence for that shotgun.

Timothy Wright , 63, of Maesybont, was also charged with possession of a firearm without a licence, referring to the shotgun in Maesybont on March 24.

No pleas were entered at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on March 27.

The defendants were granted bail, and they will appear at Swansea Crown on April 26 to enter their pleas.
