An Amman Valley charity has helped to organise a star-studded fundraising football match.

The match, scheduled for May 11, 2024, is set to take place at the Swansea.com stadium.

The event is the product of the collaboration between Joseph’s Smile, a Brynamman charity, and The Bradley Lowery Foundation.

Both foundations were established by families affected by childhood cancer, and are committed to funding crucial medical treatment and equipment for those in need.

The charity match, dubbed Wales V England, has masterminds Chris Coleman and Sol Campbell managing their respective teams.

Participants in the match feature an impressive mix of ex-professional footballers, sports personalities, and celebrities.

The line-up includes Ashley Williams, Joe Cole, Dave Edwards, Joe Ledley, Leon Britton, Owain Tudur Jones, Nathan Dyer, Sir Mo Farah, Shane Williams Adebayo Akinfenwa, Leon Best, Mike Tindall, Gareth Thomas, Rhys Webb, James Hook, Liam Reardon, Shaun MacDonald, Owain Fon Williams, Jeremy Lynch, Calum Best, Chris Hughes, Jordan Davies, Tom Barber and Callum Scott Howells.

All celebrities are offering their time for the event, free of charge, but will be subject to work commitments.

As part of the pre-match festivities, Dafydd Iwan and Rhys Meirion will entertain attendees, with additional artists to be announced in the coming weeks.

Parents Katy Yeandle and Gemma Lowery, both of whom lost their sons, Joseph and Bradley, to neuroblastoma, are leading the planning.

They expressed gratitude for everyone contributing to the match, including the players, spectators, and sponsors such as Westacres, SMS Technology, Trade Centre Wales, Trade Centre UK, Anonymous Marketing, Conquer Teamwear, and The Georgian Hotel in Swansea.

"This event serves as a powerful platform to shed light on the struggles faced by the children and families we support every single day," Katy stated.

Echoing her sentiments, Gemma Lowery, CEO of The Bradley Lowery Foundation, stated: "By working together with other like-minded charities, we can help remove that stigma, which helps raise vital awareness."

The match carries profound significance for the families of Joseph and Bradley; they believe it will ignite hope and unite communities in the fight against childhood cancer.
