A hairdresser salon which is a finalist in the Welsh Hair and Beauty awards has opened in a new location in the Amman Valley.

Hair Envy is nominated in the Hair Salon of the Year category and is based in Glanamman.

The new shop is run by Nikkita Williams, an experienced hairdresser who has been styling hair for more than two decades.

She said: “I began hairdressing at the age of sixteen. Even though I've been doing it for more than 21 years, I've always had a strong desire to learn new things.

“There are constantly new hairstyles, colours, and trends to try. I've enjoyed growing my clientele over time.

“Many of my clients have stuck by me for years, no matter where I've worked.

"I think I have the best clients because they have stood by me through the good times and the bad times. They resemble my extended family.”

Furthermore, it was always Mrs Williams’ dream to purchase her own salon and that dream came to fruition this year.

She continued: “Running my own salon has been my ambition, and this year it finally came true.

“We were fortunate enough to purchase what was formerly the Glanamman post office last year, and my husband and I have recently completed a full renovation, including a new heating system and new windows.”

“We have installed a large window at the side of the building to let in plenty of light and to draw in customers. Even though it hasn't been easy, it has been worthwhile to see it through to completion.”
