Gwaun cae Gurwen Ystradgynlais

Gwaun cae Gurwen entertained Ystradgynlais at home on Saturday in order to conclude a game that started on May 24.

The original fixture had had to be curtailed due to adverse weather conditions.

Having played 12 ends across the green in May and leading by 48–35, the opportunity arose to conclude the match last week with both sides keen to make the most of an open date in their calendars.

Rather than waste an afternoon, the sides agreed to complete the game on Saturday morning and avoid the heat of the afternoon.

By the completion of 15 ends the Waun now led 58–45 and finished the game after 18 with the score at 77.75-48.

The results enabled the Waun to collect all 14 points on offer and extend their lead at the top of their division.

Next week the Waun are at home to the Gnoll of Neath in a game which could determine whether they achieve their goal of promotion this season.
