Carmarthenshire League Division One

Llandeilo Town 1 Gorseinon 1

Llandeilo Town and Gorseinon shared the spoils in this Division One encounter between two sides looking to move up the table after a solid start to the season.

The visitors started the game brightly and looked in control early on, but failed to threaten.

The first real chance of the game come on the 30 minute mark, as Llandeilo midfielder Phil Howells saw his first-time snap-shot strike the outside of the visitors’ post from 20 yards with the Gorseinon keeper looking on.

Howells’ effort was the best chance of the first half and the sides went into the interval with the game scoreless.

The hosts stepped up the tempo after the interval and were rewarded for their patience midway through the half as a spell of crisp and direct passing put Adam Gittens into space 12 yards out.

The winger showed great composure to slot the ball into the bottom right-hand corner and put the hosts ahead.

The goal seemed to stir Gorseion into action, and they replied with a goal of their own almost immediately as a curling cross from the right saw their impressive Number Nine out-leap the home defence to power a header into the top right-hand corner.

Llandeilo finished the game strongly, but for all their possession and effort they failed to find the breakthrough they needed, and a keenly-fought contest game ended with the points shared.

Llandeilo would like to thank their sponsors Smiths carpentry - Timber Frame Erectors, and Rosetta Coffee shop and Eaterie.
