Penygroes 45 Mynydd y Garreg 3

A clinical and classy performance from Penygroes saw them overpower and outplay a useful Mynydd y Garreg team to notch another bonus point win and move them even further up the table.

In a fairly even first half, Chris Powell gave the hosts the lead after 15 minutes with a coolly struck penalty.

Fifteen minutes later, after a period of sustained Groes pressure, hooker Eddie Thomas dived over wide out to increase the hosts’ lead.

The boot of Powell landed a magnificent conversion to give the hosts a ten-point advantage.

The visitors hit back right on half time with a penalty to reduce the deficit and go in at half-time just seven points in arrears.

The hosts turned up the heat in the second half and the visitors were completely outplayed in every facet of the game.

Further tries Powell, Leighton Rees, Mathew Lemon, Carwen Davies and Gareth Davies - all of which were converted by Powell, saw the hosts storm to their biggest win of the season. Centre Powell earned a joint man of the match award with a personal haul of 20 points with outside-half Rees who impressed in midfield.

Penygroes next Swansea Uplands in the third round of the Swalec Bowl in a festive Home match at Penygroes Park on Saturday, December 13.
