Towy ABC hosted its Christmas dinner show at Betws RFC on Friday night in what proved a fantastic night of boxing.

Schoolboy Alfie Lloyd opened the evening n his debut fight against Keiran Bevan of Premier Boxing Club. Lloyd came out looking a little nervous and was a little overwhelmed in the first round with Bevan more in control of his emotions.

But the home fighter settled down in the second and third, finding his rhythm to throw some decent looking punches and was unlucky not to come away with something as the decision went Bevan’s way.

Davy Jones from Brecon and Kasper Didsinszki from Trostre ABC put on a battling display in the fight of the night with Didsinszki earning the plaudits courtesy of a split decision.

Huw Francis took to the ring against Liam Fitzpatrick of Carmarthen ABC in the pre interval fight and things started badly for the home fighter when he found himself on the canvas following a slip.

The Towy man was able to get up and dust himself down however and came back with renewed focus to dominate the remainder of the first round.

Francis began the second well, throwing some good right-hand shots to the delight of the crowd.

One thumping right-hand sent Fitzpatrick sprawling onto your canvas and the referee gave the bout to Francis with a technical knockout.

After the break, Towy dominated the bill with three fights in the ring.

Ammanford’s Phil Jones went up against Huw Evans of Carmarthen in a four two-minute round bout and both boxers looked to pace themselves through the early stages.

In an evenly match contest there were some fantastic shots from both men, but Evans eventually came out on top.

Both fighters were recognised for their efforts however with Evans named boxer of the night and Jones earning the trophy for the best losing fighter.

Towy’s Jake Anthony started well against Connor Clewitt of Brecon ABC with a series of crunching body shots and both youngsters displayed a great degree of skill in the ring. However the ref looked to slow the contest by pulling the fighters back twice.

The second round saw both fighters throwing some classy punches with Anthony taking the round.

In the third, Anthony put on a show, using his body shots well, but again the ref slowed the round and Anthony was unable to get up to full speed.

It mattered little however and the Towy youngster came away with a unanimous decision.

The final bout of the night saw Spencer Thomas in action against Jake Vallainy from Brecon.

In a hard-fought contest with both boxers giving their all, Thomas edged the first round thanks to his probing jab. The second saw the two men trading blows punch for punch and in the third Thomas came out and boxed well, taking the contest by unanimous decision.
