Rhos 1 Ammanford 1

Both sides went into the top of the table clash boasting 100 per cent winning records, and a fantastic game of football was the outcome as the two sides end with at least their unbeaten records intact.

Rhos started brightly with some slick passing despite the heavy pitch and they created an early chance which forced a good save from keeper Ayesha Fairclough. Ammanford’s Ellie Harris then saw her powerful shot fly just wide of the upright.

The early stages were end to end it was 15 minutes into the half when another good move from the hosts saw the Rhos striker unmarked in the penalty area and she left Fairclough with no chance by finishing powerfully into the far corner.

Ammanford’s response was almost immediate as Ffion Morgan carried the ball out of defence and, after a well-worked exchange of passes, Louise Palmer found Chantel Mann on the edge of the box.

Mantel’s one-touch control set her up to curl her shot into the corner.

Ammanford began to dominate and had the ball in the net five minutes later only for Palmers classy finish to ruled offside.

Mann went close when her volley flew past the post from a searching Aimee Heath cross.

Ammanford had a good shout for a penalty turned down after Nia Rees’s run carried her into the box, before she went down under a challenge.

The away team created another great chance on half-time when Lucy Packer collected the ball on the edge of her box and raced the length of the field to deliver a fantastic cross to the penalty spot where a diving Mann was inches away from connecting.

The second half was as frenetic as the first with the home team having the lion’s share of possession and Fairclough was forced into action, pulling off some fine saves to keep her side on level terms.

Ammanford struggled to hold possession during the second half, but the pace of the game did not let up for an instant,

Ammanford can now look forward to the arrival Coed Duan Dragons in the u16 Girls Welsh Cup quarter-final.
