Thomas Carroll T20 Knockout Cup
Ammanford beat Dafen
With their Premier League match at St Fagans having been washed out on the Saturday without a ball being bowled, Ammanford were keen to hone their skills in Sunday’s SWCA T20 fixture at the Park.
Dafen were the visitors, and the victims.
The frustration of losing out on the likelihood of picking up maximum points against lowly St Fagans surfaced in a comprehensive hiding dished out to the Llanelli village outfit.
Dafen batted first and failed to come to grips with the home side’s constrictive bowling, which both kept down runs and picked up regular wickets.
Leading the Ammanford performance was spinner Matthew Fisher who, in his four overs, picked up five wickets for a meagre 10 runs, including a hat-trick.
Dafen were all out for 93 on the last ball of their allotted 20 overs.
It took Ammanford’s openers just over 11 overs to stroll to their target.
Nathan Jones hit an unbeaten 44 while at the other end Rhys Davies was also not out for 35.
Next Saturday Ammanford entertain Newport in the South Wales Premier League.
