Cwmgors RFC had one of their best results of the season this past weekend.

The team beat Baglan 41-33 in a high-paced, engaging match at a sunny Parc y Werin.

This victory marks only the second win for the home side this season, and it came bundled with an additional bonus point.

The game started in favour of the visiting side, as Baglan scored two tries in the first 30 minutes.

However, the home team bounced back when Jordan Smith scored a try of his own, before converting it, making up for an earlier missed penalty.

Despite another Baglan try, the home side retaliated before half time with Steff Phillips cleverly manoeuvring across the line.

Despite trailing 19-14 at the half, the home side came out fighting.

In the seesawing second half, Smith reduced the gap using a penalty shot right after the restart.

Baglan notched another try, but Owen Davies countered with another for Cwmgors.

Despite Baglan scoring yet again to make the score 33-24, Cwmgors wrapped up the match in an impressive manner.

Phillips delivered a neatly executed corner try, taking the match to bonus point territory.

However, the real turning point came when Smith, not ready to take the backseat, scored again, pushing the home side to a 36-33 lead after converting his own try.

The sharpest blow, however, was yet to come as Davies dashed through Baglan's defences, adding the final score to wrap up the most exciting match of the season.

The Cherries are yet to play two remaining games, first against Cwmafan on May 9 at 7pm, and the final one at home against Nantymoel on May 11.

Meanwhile, Amman United lost in their game against Mumbles, losing 41-23.

A day of mixed results for the region, but for Cwmgors, an exceptionally victorious day to cherish.
